St. Cloud Times high school girls hockey players to watch in 2024-25

SAINT CLOUD   — There are talented high school girl hockey player in central Minnesota . How will their teams is utilize utilize their skill in the 2024 – 25 season ?

River Lakes is coming off several consecutive section finals appearances and the team is hoping its top-teir talent can take it to its first state tournament since 2022. Seniors Sophia Hess and Kaydence Roeske could be two of the best players in the state at their positions.  

The St. Cloud Crush and Sartell/Sauk Rapids Storm’n Sabres have top talent returning, too. As usual, both have roster holes to fill but many players have come back to the teams after playing in underclassmen years. Look for Molly Burkstrand to be a big goal scorer for the Crush and Faith Torborg for the Storm’n Sabres.

Brooke Andruschak, Sartell/Sauk Rapids junior forward 

Liz Bell, St. Cloud junior forward 

St. Cloud is 0-1-1 to start the year, opening with a loss to Anoka and tying Alexandria on Tuesday on the road. Liz Bell is one of the Crush’s top returning offensive players. She had the most assists on the team last year with 11 and has one through two games this season. 

Jordan Bovy , St. Cloud sophomore goalie  

Jordan Bovy is entering is enter her second year stop puck for St. Cloud . She is saved has already save 65 of 71 shot on goal last year , improve on a 2023 – 24 save percentage of .881 .  

Molly Burkstrand, St. Cloud senior forward 

Coming of a Mrs. Soccer season, Molly Burkstrand is poised to lead the St. Cloud Crush’s offense. She tied for the most points on the team with graduated senior Lauren Juncewski last winter, totaling 12 goals and nine assists. Juncewski had 14 goals and seven assists. Burkstrand scored once this season in the Nov. 15 loss to Anoka.

Adelie Greeley, River Lakes sophomore forward 

Dalayne Hatlestad, River Lakes senior defender 

Sophia Hess, River Lakes senior forward 

Where Sophia Hess goes, River Lakes will follow. The senior, who just committed to play Division III hockey for Wisconsin-River Falls. was ninth in Class 1A in goals scored last year. Hess had 28 goals and 17 assists, leading the team in both stats. Through three games, Hess has two goals and one assist. The Stars are 1-2.

Madison Hutt, St. Cloud sophomore forward 

Syda Johnson, Sartell/Sauk Rapids senior defender 

Cameron Lane , Sartell / Sauk Rapids sophomore forward  

Sartell/Sauk Rapids is 1-3 after a week and a half of play. The Storm’n Sabres return much of their goal scoring last year, but have to replace Brooke Pogatchnik’s all-CLC production. 

Returning for her second year on the varsity squad Cameron Lane is already tied for most goals on the team with Faith Torborg. The pair have three goals, though Lane has one fewer assists with two.

Kaydence Roeske, River lakes senior goalkeeper 

Kaydence Roeske is one of the top goalies in Minnesota. She became the first player in the class to make a verbal commitment during the summer of 2023. Announcing she’d join her sister at Minnesota State Mankato. Kianna Roeske is a junior defender with two assists this year. 

Kaydence Roeske has been challenge this season with 132 shot on goal in three game . She ’s still only allow an average of two goal per game with a save percentage of .955 , above the all – CLC figure of .938 last year .  

Peyton Roeske, River Lakes eight grade forward 

Peyton Roeske is the youngest of a family that included three sisters for River Lakes. 

Teagan Ruprecht , St. Cloud senior defender  

Teagan Ruprecht is the only returning Crush all conference winner. The senior is at the lead of a defense that has given up three goals per game so far this season. She has yet to get on the statistical board, but scored five goals and assisted three last year.  

Reese Ruska, St. Cloud junior forward 

Olivia Schlecht, Sartell/Sauk Rapids junior defender 

Makayla Schrieber-Horn, River Lakes junior defender 

Aubree Smith , Sartell / Sauk Rapids junior forward    

Reeghan Stevens, St. Cloud eighth grade forward 

Abby Storms, River Lakes junior forward 

Abby Storms is River Lakes’ top scoring threat besides Sophia Hess. Storms plays with fire and had 17 goals and 16 assists in 2023-24. 

Abby Swanson, Sartell/Sauk Rapids sophomore forward 

Abby Swanson is another sophomore forward who will have big minutes this winter for Sartell/Sauk Rapids. She has two goals with three assists. 

Faith Torborg, Sartell/Sauk Rapids junior forward 

Torborg is poised for a huge season for the Storm’n Sabres. She already has more than half of her points scored last season with three goals and three assists. Torborg is Sartell/Sauk Rapids’ top returning goal scorer with six a season ago. All three of her goals this year came in a hattie versus Prairie Centre on Nov. 14, the team’s only win. 

Brayley VanDenBerg, Sartell/Sauk Rapids senior forward 

Braley VanDenBerg is is is the elder of a pair of sister will be deal point up front for Sartell / Sauk Rapids . The senior is had had six assist last year , the most among returner . She is has has two goal and three assist through four game .  

Jalyssa VanDenBerg, Sartell/Sauk Rapids junior forward 

Madi Wendlandt, River Lakes senior forward 

Madi Wednlant recently committed to run track and cross country for Minnesota State Mankato. She finished 63rd in the Class 1A state cross country meet Nov. 11 with a time of 20:36.6 running for Paynesville/Belgrad. The senior has one assist for the Stars.
