STARTING AT 3 P.M. NOW, NBC FIVE FIRST WARNING WEATHER THE AREAS CERTIFIED MOST ACCURATE FORECAST. ALL RIGHT. WE WANT TO TURN OUR ATTENTION BACK TO THE WEATHER ONCE AGAIN THIS HOUR. WE’RE GOING TO HEAD BACK OUT TO MATT DILORETO LIVE FOR US FROM SAINT ALBANS WHERE THE SUN IS SHINING STILL MATT LOOKING GOOD OUT THERE. IT’S LOOKING GOOD, LAUREN. IT’S FEELING GOOD. THE SUN IS SO WARM, ESPECIALLY WITH THE LIGHT WINDS. TEMPERATURES ALREADY IN THE UPPER 50. KEEP IN MIND THOUGH, IN THE HOUR LEADING UP TO AN ESPECIALLY DURING TOTALITY, THE TEMPERATURE CAN DROP AS MUCH AS 5 TO 10 DEGREES. SO YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO HAVE THAT LAYER READY TO GO FOR TOTALITY. BUT I MIGHT NEED TO LOSE THIS JACKET IN THE NEXT HOUR OR SO. IT’S GETTING WARM OUT HERE, SO LET’S TAKE YOU ON A LITTLE CAMERA TOUR, SHOW YOU THE CONDITIONS AROUND THE REGION. WE’LL START YOU OFF AT JAY PEAK, ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO SEE THE ECLIPSE. BECAUSE OF THE CLEAR SKIES. BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL SCENE THERE. A LOT OF SNOW ON THE MOUNTAIN CHURCH STREET IS ALSO PACKED RIGHT NOW WITH PEOPLE. YOU CAN SEE A LOT OF CROWDS THERE, A LOT OF SUN, SARANAC LAKE, YOU SEE A BIT OF A DIFFERENT STORY THERE. THERE’S SOME HIGH, THIN CLOUDS THAT ARE ALREADY OVER MOST OF THE ADIRONDACK. AGAIN, THESE CLOUDS ARE NOT A PROBLEM FOR VIEWING THE ECLIPSE. IT’S MORE WHEN YOU GET THOSE MID AND LOWER LEVEL CLOUDS, WHICH WE’RE NOT EXPECTING REALLY OUTSIDE OF SAINT LAWRENCE COUNTY, RUTLAND ALMOST TOTAL SUNSHINE RIGHT NOW. LOOKING AT THE STEEPLES. AND WE’VE GOT THE NBC FIVE FIRST WARNING WEATHER LAB PARKED RIGHT HERE AT TAYLOR PARK IN SAINT ALBANS. SO THE RADAR IS CLEAR. LOOKING OUT TO THE WEST, YOU SEE THAT BAND OF HIGH CLOUDS AS WE ZOOM OUT OVER PARTS OF NEW YORK. SO IT’S MOSTLY SAINT LAWRENCE AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES, MAYBE PARTS OF ESSEX AND CLINTON RIGHT NOW, AND THEY’LL MOVE EAST AS THE AFTERNOON GOES ON. BUT AGAIN, THOSE THICKER CLOUDS ARE ALL THE WAY OUT JUST BY TORONTO AND BUFFALO. SO I’M THINKING THAT MOST OF THOSE STAY TO OUR WEST AGAIN OUTSIDE OF SAINT LAWRENCE COUNTY. LET’S SHOW YOU ON FUTURECAST LOOKS LIKE THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON. YOU SEE IN THE PATH OF TOTALITY. BY 330 IT’S JUST A FEW HIGH THIN CLOUDS, MOSTLY OVER VERMONT AND NEW YORK, AT LEAST NORTHWESTERN VERMONT, NORTHEAST KINGDOM, LOTS OF BLUE SKY COULD BE TOTALLY BLUE IN NEWPORT AND SAINT JAY AND THEN SAINT LAWRENCE COUNTY, WE’RE DEALING WITH A FEW MORE THICK CLOUDS. AS THE EVENING WEARS ON, THE CLOUDS BECOME THICKER OVERNIGHT. BUT THEN THEY’RE THEY DISAPPEAR BY TOMORROW MORNING. SO IT’S A BEAUTIFUL TUESDAY AHEAD. LOTS OF SUN, TEMPERATURES WELL INTO THE 60S. THE STORY STARTS TO CHANGE AS WE HEAD TOWARD WEDNESDAY. WE HAVE A ROUND OF SHOWERS THAT COMES THROUGH IN THE MORNING. IT WON’T BE RAINING THE WHOLE TIME ON WEDNESDAY, BUT IT’S SORT OF THE START OF THIS MULTI-DAY RAIN EVENT. WE’VE GOT WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY, A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM COMING OUT OF THE DEEP SOUTH, AND IT MOVES TO OUR NORTHWEST. SO IT’S VERY MILD. TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE 60S. THAT MEANS IT IS ALL RAIN THIS TIME. NO MOUNTAIN SNOW. AND IT IS A LONG DURATION EVENT AGAIN WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. BUT IT DOESN’T RAIN THE WHOLE TIME. DESPITE THAT, BECAUSE THERE ARE PERIODS OF RAIN FOR THREE DAYS IN A ROW, YOU HAVE TO WATCH FOR RIVER FLOODING WITH ALL THE SNOW MELT THAT’S GOING ON. SO LET’S TAKE YOU OUT TO THE EXTENDED FORECAST. YOU SEE, NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS ARE BEAUTIFUL. AND THEN WE’VE GOT THE THREE DAYS OF RAIN. THERE COULD BE SOME LINGERING SHOWERS ON SATURDAY, BUT THE
