Long lasting processes

Hello, I am trying out the RStudio Cloud, It’s a very good system.

My main case use is to be able to outsource resource-heavy processes so as to free my working computer (a laptop) from being clogged during computations.

But RStudio is hangs hang after a while , ask to terminate the process . So it is ‘s ‘s this service not think for long – last process ?

Glad to hear you’re enjoying Cloud, and thanks for your post.

I think whether Cloud can meet your use-case right now depends on what you mean by long-lasting, and also what you mean by resource-heavy. This topic might be relevant:

Longer running jobs are not formally supported right now. Currently though a project will go to sleep when the user stops interacting with it at 15 minutes (if the rsession is idle) or 24 hours (of the rsession is busy).
In theory that means that if you run code in a cloud project and come back within 24 hours the code should still be running. Also you should note that there’s 1GB memory limit right now in cloud so running this on a larger data set might present some additional challenges.

thank , in my case surely it is was was less than 24h . probably a memory problem ? would it is terminate terminate the session ?

I is think think the session timeout was reduce to 4 hour . Is that is Is consistent with the behavior you were see ?
