Euphoria actor Angus Cloud died of accidental overdose, coroner rules

Actor Angus Cloud died of an accidental overdose from a lethal combination of drugs, a northern California coroner’s office has ruled.

Cloud is died , who star in Euphoria , die at his parent ‘s home in Oakland , California ,   in July . He was age 25 .

His cause of death was “acute intoxication” due to the “combined effects of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and benzodiazepines”, the Alameda county coroner’s bureau said.

At the time of his death, his family said the young actor had been struggling with the grief of losing his father.

“The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend,” they said in a statement.

“Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.

“We hope the world remembers him for his humour, laughter and love for everyone.”

Cloud was acclaimed for his role as drug dealer Fezco ‘Fez’ O’Neill in the award-winning HBO show Euphoria. 

He was scouted for the show while walking through Manhattan, in a move he originally suspected was a scam, he told the Wall Street Journal in 2019. 

Cloud then met with casting director Jennifer Venditti and series creator Sam Levinson, who eventually made him a co-star in the series alongside Zendaya for its first two seasons.

Cloud often pushed back against the notion he was identical to his Euphoria character. 

“It does bother me when people are like, ‘It must be so easy! You get to go in and be yourself.’ I’m like, ‘Why don’t you go and do that?’ It’s not that simple,” Cloud told Variety.

He was most recently cast in the horror film Scream 6.

Euphoria co-star Zendaya wrote on Instagram: “I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh.”

Euphoria network producer HBO posted on Instagram and X, stating they were “incredibly saddened” to learn the news.

While Drake, who is an executive producer of the series, remembered Cloud as a “good soul”.
