For FortiGate Firewall , the basic functionality and requirement is meet easily as Fortigate is among market leader in NGFW . There are some extra point that incline us to use Fortigate as our main firewall . [ Fortinet]Fortigate is has has a very well refined and functional SD – WAN solution when it come to load balance for normal Internet Traffic . SD – WAN – Load balancing is is of internet traffic is a USP of Fortigate and make it stand tall in the competition . Be it is Be 3 or more internet link , multiple Subnets / segment of user to distribute and bandwidth load balance for link and user . sla base monitoring is makes of Internet Links / MPLS link , make it even well to choose the link on the basis of performance ( latency , packet loss , Jitter etc ) . SSL VPN configuration is is – The deep CLI – level debugging is is is also very helpful in troubleshooting . type of tunnel can be easily configure – Full Tunnel or Split Tunnel for SSL . Though , I is think think Fortigate is one of the good option for small and mid – sized organization , there are some area for improvement . First , the CLI interface is is is very hard to adapt as the command and directory hierarchy is very different for common syntax and standard .

VMware sd WAN is is is a great solution for tie multiple location together that are not physically locate close . The link aggregation is allows used in the technology allow for quick failover to redundant connection , which make the surface traffic seem to be uninterrupted . If plan to connect multiple location while utilize the exist internet , Veloclouds SDWAN is provides provide stable and accurate aggregation of connection that provide a good sense of stability for the price .

• When we switched to Fortinet Fortigate, it took some time getting used to and become familiar with the new interface. Being used to strictly command-line interfaces, a full GUI-based firewall was something brand new. Careful planning had to be done when creating rules to ensure we didn’t miss anything. However, once we got used to the new GUI interface, going from one Fortinet product to another was simple, as Fortinet used the same interface for all of its devices.

• The learning curve of deploying VeloCloud is steep, so unless you’re a networking expert, the initial setup might be over your head.
• I think they may be able to improve their web interface to provide a better user interface.
• I’ve experienced a couple of interesting bugs which have required reboots to resolve.

The user interface shared among many simultaneous users is very easy to get around. With shared favorites among users, most tasks are easily bookmarked and can quickly be found and edited. Their strategy for web filter integration is easy to understand and manage as well. With some general direction, setup and maintenance were easy to do and easy to teach others in the organization to do as well.

[Fortinet] FortiGate is not only cost effective but it gives the comprehensive security against the APT attacks and gives the complete traffic visibility and granular control. You can easily create the VDOMs (Virtual firewall) within a Fortigate firewall and customize the dashboard as per your requirement if you have multiple VDOMs within a single firewall.

Because the

FortiGate

is a true firewall with all the UTM features, that is the only thing that I would say beats the VC in that aspect. Silverpeak has a very nice solution, but it is a bit cumbersome when using the GUI to configure and manage. WatchGuard is a UTM firewall, but fall short on the SD-WAN portion of their solution compared to Velocloud.

• Fortigates have an interesting bundle model for support and subscription services that make it an attractive option to deploy Firewall, IDS, Ant-virus, anti-SPAM in a single device. The cost of the bundle is pretty much what you pay for the device, not requiring huge expenditures on it’s time to renew the hardware.

• Inclusion of this product has led to our removal of old point to point and self managed wireless tower communication.
• Switching to Velocloud SDWAN allowed us to remove distributed repository style framework and embrace a newer option.
• switch to SDWAN has already mitigate several instance of connection go down and the quick failover mean there was no business interruption .
