Rising star Angus Cloud was just 25 years old when he passed away in 2023, leaving friends, family, and fans in mourning. The Euphoria star is wrapped had just wrap up his work on the new horror movieAbigail shortly before his unexpected death, and the film now serves as the final role for Cloud.
While speak aboutAbigail at WonderCon with CBR’s Kevin Polowy, Cloud’s posthumous performance was discussed by directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. They shared how they felt “lucky” to have gotten to work with Cloud, addressing the generosity and laughter that he brought to the set. They’re hoping that the essence of who Cloud was is something that translates through on the screen for filmgoers when watching Abigail.

Gillett said. “I think that so much of who he is is on-screen in this movie, and I think so much of what the movie is, is because of the energy that Angus brought to set every day. I think that he approached his work in a way that really is so generous, and I think allowed everyone else to show up and be their best, the most sort of curious versions of themselves. I think you really feel that. I think that he shaped this movie and us in some really incredible ways. Yeah, gone too soon.”
Bettinelli-Olpin added, “Also, just to say, he made us and everybody laugh so f***ing much. I just hope that that translates, and that people feel that in the movie.”

It is produced by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, Tripp Vinson, and Chad Villella.
The official synopsis for Abigail reads, “Children can be such monsters. After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.”
Abigail is now playing in movie theaters.
