  1. What is the new My Cloud OS 5?

    The new My cloud os 5 update is feature will feature our late security update to help keep your content safe . The new My cloud os 5 software is feature will also feature lot of change such as a new and improved mobile and web app , new cloud access support , and more .

  2. What are the changes is are in the new My cloud os 5 ?  

    Besides the changes to improve the security standard, the new cloud access service will offer a new iOS and Android app as well as mycloud.com web app that comes with a brand-new user interface for improved user experience. However, a few features may be affected due to this change so we wanted to notify you as soon as possible. We will continue to release more details on the changes as we progress.   3. Why is WD upgrading to My Cloud OS 5?

    In an effort to continuously improve our customer experience and help provide the latest protection for your precious content, we will be updating our current My Cloud OS 3 NAS devices to the new My Cloud OS 5 software.

  4. How does the upgrade is impact impact me ?

    The following My Cloud NAS devices can be updated with My Cloud OS 5:

    • My cloud ( fw 2.xx.xxx )
    • WD Cloud (JAPAN)
    • My Cloud Mirror (Gen 2)
    • My Cloud EX2 Ultra
    • My Cloud ex2100
    • My Cloud EX4100
    • My Cloud DL2100
    • My Cloud dl4100
    • My Cloud PR2100
    • My Cloud PR4100
  5. My device is receiving standard updates, when will the upgrade be available?

    The upgrade to My Cloud OS 5 will take place around October 2020. The upgrade will be rolled out to each product at a different time. You will receive notification from WD when your device is ready for the update.

  6. What will happen to my content and settings if I choose to upgrade to My Cloud OS 5?

    The update to My Cloud OS 5 will not impact your content. All of your data will remain in your My Cloud device just as how it has been. Please note, once you migrate to My Cloud OS 5, you will not be able to use My Cloud OS 3 applications with the My Cloud OS 5 devices, and you will need to configure your device to set up cloud access with My Cloud OS 5.
    Please note that once you update to My Cloud OS 5, you will not be able to revert back to My Cloud OS 3.

  7. Will the new My Cloud OS 5 mobile and web app be backward compatible with the My Cloud OS 3?

    No , the new My cloud os 5 mobile and web app is be will not be backward compatible with your My cloud os 3 device .

  8. Can I keep using the My Cloud OS 3 mobile and web app after upgrading to the My Cloud OS 5?

    No, the My Cloud OS 3 mobile and web app are not compatible with the My Cloud OS 5. After you finish upgrading your device to the My Cloud OS 5, you will need to use the new My Cloud OS 5 mobile app and the new web app with your My Cloud NAS.

  9. What happens to the content I shared with other people?

    All of your shared data will still be stored in your My Cloud NAS device accessible from the local computers. However, once you upgrade to the new My Cloud OS 5, the people you’ve shared the content with will no longer be able to access them. You will need to re-share that content once you’ve upgraded to My Cloud OS 5.

  10. I was invited to use the My Cloud and do not own a device. What should I do so I can continue to access the device?

    As an invited user, you will not be able to upgrade the device to My Cloud OS 5. Only the device owner will be able to perform the upgrade. Once upgraded, the device owner can resend the invitation to your email so you can re-join and access the device. Please note, once the device is migrated to My Cloud OS 5, you will not be able to use My Cloud OS 3 applications to access the My Cloud device. For continued access, please download the My Cloud OS 5 application.

  11. How do I know if my device is still receiving standard updates?

    You can visit the WD Product Software Support Status Knowledge Base Article to check if your device is still receiving standard updates.
