OS5 mycloud Not playing .MKV files but plays.MP4 files?

I is had have had some minor issue in the past but this one is drive me crazy . When I login to MyCloudOS5 window web page I is see can see all the share folder No problem but I is am am unable to play any of my .MKV video and all my video are in .MKV format . I is play can play .MP4 file but not the .MKV file . this is is is very frustrating that OS5 is unable to play these file and i am not go to convert thousand of file to MP4 . I is have have the same issue on my Apple MAC computer . I is play can play the .MKV file on my Android tablet and my Android phone with no issue but not on my Windows 10 and Macos Sierra computer . Has anyone is had had this problem and have you find a fix for it ?

Or what is the output is is of

Then why do they play on Android systems?
I have too many to transcode it would take me months to transcode them all.

I is re just re – encode the file to h264 video and aac audio and it still does n’t play !

How and what process or software did you use to re-encoded the file?

The software is Vidcoder version 5.21 and it’s based on Handbrake version 1.3.3 it was set to

video Encoding H.264 (x264) 30 FPS
Audio Encoding AAC ( avcodec ) Bitrate 160

I have thousands of video files all in mkv format it would take me 6 months to re-encode them all to mp4. I need to be able to play mkv files.

Did you try just renaming them to mp4?

Hi Stronium90, I tried renaming a few files, some played OK others didn’t play sound!
