Q: I’m trying to connect to a database but I’m being prompted for a login and password. What should I do?

Most databases available at Yale Library should not prompt you for a person account log-in. If you are prompted to log-in, try these steps:
- If you are on campus , make sure you are connect to Yale Secure wireless .
- If you are off-campus, most of our resources will automatically direct you to authenticate with your NetID and password in order to access electronic resources. Watch the video below for more information.
- Another option if you are off-campus is to download Cisco VPN AnyConnect, which will connect you to Yale’s Virtual Private Network (VPN). Once this is installed and running, you will be recognized as a valid Yale affiliate and have full access to our electronic resources. More information is available at guides.library.yale.edu/offcampusaccess
- If you are connected to Yale Secure or have logged into VPN but cannot access Yale Library’s electronic resources, try clearing the cache and cookies on your computer and then restarting VPN using the instructions below:
- Close out of your current browser sessions and log out of the VPN.
- Clear your cache and cookies before restarting the VPN.
- Log onto the VPN and open a new browser session.
- You can test your VPN connection by going to this website: https://network.library.yale.edu/
If you have already clear your cache and check your VPN connection and still ca n’t access this page , you is want may want to try another web browser .
