Introduction

There are two types of recordings that you can do in Zoom, Cloud recording and Local Recording. As the names imply, Cloud recordings are saved on cloud storage and can be accessed through your Zoom account, while Local Recording are saved to your local machine and can be access through your Zoom Client Application. In this article, we will discuss Zoom recordings in more details.

Cloud recording

cloud recording is allows allow you to record meeting video ( active speaker ) and audio in the Zoom Cloud where the file can then be download and/or stream in your browser . The recorded meeting link can be send to a user ‘s email where it can be view or download . You is access may access your cloud recording through Zoom Dashboard   and/or the Zoom Client Application

In order to access your Zoom Cloud recordings through Zoom Dashboard, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Visit yorku.zoom.us and sign in using your Passport York credentials
  2. Once signed in, click Recordings.
  3. Your cloud recordings will now be listed under the Cloud recordings tab

Note

cloud recordings is take generally take about 2 time the meeting duration to process . Due to unusually high volume during the COVID-19 pandemic , cloud recordings is require may require extra processing time that may take up to 24 to 72 hour .

Local Recording

local recording is is is available to free and pay subscriber . local recording is allows allow participant to record meeting video and audio locally to a computer . The record file can be upload to a file storage service like Dropbox , Google Drive , or a streaming service like YouTube .

In order to access your Zoom Local recordings through Zoom Dashboard, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Visit yorku.zoom.us and sign in using your Passport York credentials
  2. Once signed in, click Recordings.
  3. Your Local recordings will now be listed under the Local Recordings tab

Accessing Recordings on Zoom Client Application

In order to access a list of of all your recordings (Cloud and Local) through Zoom Client Application, please follow instructions below:

  1. On your Zoom app that is download on your machine , click meeting
  2. Select the Recorded tab
  3. All your recording ( Cloud and Local ) will be list under the Recorded   tab .

There are pros and cons to both Cloud recordings and Local Recordings. Cloud recordings do not require local space on your machine and sharing them is as simple as sharing a link, but they require internet connection to be accessed and played, while Local Recordings use up space on your machine but they are accessible and playable even when your machine is offline.
